Hello Alliance Member,
With 2008 in full swing our guys are
starting to look ahead and lay out our
goals for the year. While we all have
our individual goals and some of our
competitors have already started the
year off right pulling in impressive
victories in some local tournaments,
as a team our first focus is going to be
the Pan-American Championships in
California.
Alliance Pan-Am Camp
We at the Alliance have always treated
Jiu-Jitsu as a science, and the secret to
our success is the fact that we are able to
stay one step ahead of the competition.
With a number of high level guys coming
up from Brazil we were privileged enough
to witness and benefit from the final
preparations of multiple World Champions.
For those of us lucky enough to attend
this monster of a training camp, we all
agreed that it was an extremely surreal
experience. With the arrival of Fabio Gurgel, Soluco, Leo, Sinistro, Thiago,
Lucas Lepri, Gabriel, Tarsis Humphreys
and many others the excitement in the
gym was evident. It isnt everyday that
we have the opportunity to look up and
see the current Feather Weight World
Champion battling with the current Light
Weight Champion. On behalf of all of us at
the Alliance Id like to thank Jacare for
putting this amazing event together, and
obviously the camp was a resounding
success by the results it produced

Alliance Pan-Am
2008 Champions
(more photos...)
For the first time in our prestigious history
Alliance was crowned Pan-Am champions!
The months of preparation all boiled down
to the last weekend in March where we
rolled through the competition establishing our rightful place on top of
the Jiu-Jitsu world! Right off the bat we
got off to a great start with some
impressive wins in the Juvenile and Blue
belt divisions. This trend continued
throughout the divisions, our Master and
Senior competitors led by Fabio Gurgel
rolled through the competition scoring
twice as many points as the second place
team to once again to claim the Team
Trophy. Some stand out performances in
the Adult divisions included Chase
Wheaton and Alec Baulding placing in the
Purple Belt divisions and scoring points for
the team. The Brown Belts didn.t
disappoint with Ian Mcpherson coming in
third, Thiago Clemente receiving gold in
the Feather Weight ivision, Thiago Rocha
winning the Light Weight Division and
Chris Moriarty and Batista closing out the
Light Heavy Weight Division and placing
second and third respectively in the Open
Division. By the time the Black Belts
competed we were confident that the
Team Trophy would be ours, and to seal
the deal Michael Langhi and Soluco placed
third, Tarsis and Lucas Lepri got second
place, and despite battling a serious knee
injury Cobrinha still made short work of
his division winning the Gold. At the end
of the day all the results were tallied and
we placed first the Adult Division!
Congratulations to all the coaches and
competitors who gave their blood, sweat
and tears for our team especially to
Franjinha from Paragon Academy in
California, Allen Molher from Dallas Texas,
Fabio Clemente and Babs from New York,
Felipe Neto from Florida, Alex Britto from
Philadelphia and Soluco from Ecuador.
Special thanks to all the training partners
who pushed our guys to the limit every
day in class with out you this would not be
completed.
